ASK Teany Q&A Question
Wow, I've never seen so many likes and views on this question! I'm guessing people want to know what to avoid in careers.
Question: What glamorized career path is actually a complete nightmare?
So here's the deal... any job can be a nightmare if your mindset about it is off. For example if you go into a job just because you need the money, or for some desperate measure. Or if you take on a higher position because you don’t want to look bad in front of your boss or you’ll never get asked to be promoted again. Those are all not so great ways to set yourself up for success.
Aside from your own mindset about a job I have to say that watching many artists (singers, actors, etc.) their lives are also not as glamorous as they look on the stage. I just watched the documentary on Lady Gaga and she has suffered greatly in her career.
However, she finally learned to say no to what she doesn’t want to participate in and yes to that which actually fits perfectly with who she is, what she wants to represent and her passion. She talks about mindset too. Check it out.
Ultimately its all about what career/purpose fits with your personal vision. Anything that messes with this ends up becoming hard to handle.
Hope that helps!
The truth is any job can be a nightmare if pursued for reasons that break your values, goals, desires and passions. So choose wisely!

I've been through 3 MAJOR shifts in my life and boy did they bring out that passion in me!
Each lead me to where I am, and no step was badly taken as I learned from every single one. And most importantly I learned that the journey brought me closer to discovering my inner passions.
These 3 major shifts in my career occurred since college. My passion(s) made an appearance each time and I say that with an S because at each stage I was sure I knew what I was interested in and what I was passionate about. Having my strong-willed and energetic personality and went for it full throttle. Why? Because I felt it in my core and my heart and ie. It resonated with exactly where I was in the moment. So the truth is you have many passions, and they may change at various stages of your life.
In college I realized engineering was not my passion, not because I wasn’t a problem solver, but because the semantics and details were not stimulating enough or creative enough for me. I wanted something that would help me be more creative and grow.
In 2008 while in the middle of my tech/design career, I had been working on integrating a newfound value for contributing to something greater, and realized the job I had while I was good at it and it used my talents of creativity and problem solving, was not really giving back or helping people in a bigger way. I needed more meaning!
Now in 2012, I was on a search to bringing all the talents I had fostered to even bigger heights and add spice to it. That career had to have all of the other aspects creativity, problem solving, and contribution to something greater. And now it had to have a deeper sense of passion! As I searched for it I realized how much I could help others with their own self-discovery and how I really had this deep passion all along.
So in 2017 I started working on a new coaching program after watching sooo many people feel miserable where they were working. Can you imagine spending 8-10 hours at work unhappy? I had to shine a light on that inner fire that was burning within.
I created the Purpose with Passion program which is meant to help you become aware of where you tripped up before, and get you connected to your own core so that when you are presented with options based on your open gifts, talents and ambitions you can then trust your own guidance about what truly lights you up. And not only that but it helps you EVOLVE and keep fostering high performance habits that you can carry in to all areas of your life.
I'm using everything I've learned in my life, and skills in corporate america interviewing, hiring, training and leading; as well as, all the intuitive and energetic work in wellness that has helped me understand peoples deep feelings, motivations and how to bring it out.

In service and light,
Inner Bliss Coach Teany
Sometimes you choose goals for yourself that are in conflict with your mission, and sometimes you have internal beliefs that are in conflict with both. I recently experienced this as I was planning on growth for my business. Holy cow what a huge shift I experienced as I began to process how to get my mission, goals and beliefs all in sync. The struggle is real y'all but not impossible. Never that.
The thing is..
Sometimes you're standing in the middle of the storm and don't see that the outer rim is a few feet away. My coach was fantastic at showing me where that blind spot was so that I could expand and plan for bigger and more badass things for my future and the people I would be helping.
But imagine if we didn't have these moments of struggle, coupled with moments of temporary ignorance. Those eventually catapult us through the road less traveled and even more brilliant ideas and dreams than we ever imagined. We would miss out on a lot of valuable lessons right? The kind of lessons that ground us and show us how resilient we are and resourceful we can be.
As you begin your quest don't forget to pack a few things in your arsenal:
1. Trust your gut.
It has never failed me and if I have "failed" it's because I didn't listen to it. We often ignore our instinct because we don't trust ourselves but I'm hear to tell you to listen to that voice in your head. And by the way it's never really "failure" anyway because all of those moments are a lessons to be learned.
2. Lead with your heart.
Follow what your heart is guiding you to do. Aka whatever the 'next best thing' is. People get overwhelmed by this 'follow your passion' thing but how about we follow whatever that next best thing is which just might lead you to your passion. This goes along with following your gut. Often it's most felt in your emotions and lately I've been on a mission to trust those feeling to take me where I need to go. From business to relationships. Abraham Hicks asks us to use our emotions as our guide in anything we do and it makes sense. If you can't feel positive about something don't do it or get yourself in a good feeling place first. Simple.
3. Remove what doesn't serve you.
Ok this is the part where you sit with yourself and say "[your name] where is there baggage in my life? What is truly preventing me for reaching my dreams?" That could be people, or beliefs, or maybe just consider where you are concentrating your energy. Ask yourself... are you passionate about it, is it of value to you, is it lucrative and is it serving you and/or others the way you want it to? I literally created a spreadsheet on this to help me organize and spearhead a direction. Need help with this? Contact me.
4. Leave plenty of room for yourself.
We are not robots. Even thought many wish we were. We all get 24 hours and have to make use of it. But that doesn't mean that you should cram 10 million projects in it. Trust me I was the queen of the busyness syndrome and sometimes still need to hone back. I have learned over difficult lessons that you have to make room for down time and relaxation and self-care aside from all the good things you want to do. It's hard to pick up that pina colada sometimes, but hey someone's gotta do it ;-)
5. There is no end goal.
Yes there are goals and those may have timelines but those just lead you to other goals, and other roads. AKA your life will be filled with many. So how about we enjoy the journey, get things done, and continue enjoying it along the way. Keep following your heart and gut and be lead to do the things that truly bring you joy. There is no end, only new beginnings.
