Ever notice how at moments this time of year can be tough on your emotional self because of the family drama and patterns that you see when folks get together. Not to mention all the news channels on tv that consistently spew Bad news? Well, what if I told you there are things you can do right now to bring more positive, fun and uplifting change of pace at your holiday events?
There are ya know... 3 in fact!
So for those of you experiencing ‘holiday dread’ first know that you are NOT alone. We are all challenged with folks in our lives that are less than fun. Remember you have a choice to be there, and that at the very least you can choose to be sitting next to, across from, or on the other side of the room of the person(s) who make you upset. Choose wisely.
Second, it’s your choice as to the energy you bring into the room. You can be the person who people are happy entered the room or is leaving the room. Before you come in set the tone. Say to yourself I’m going to have fun and nothing is going to bother me. Once you make that decision, make it only once and one time only. That way this promise to yourself will be a reminder in your mind if people or situations try to sway you.
Third, wear your ugly sweater and find or BRING the good. Bring good stories, things or at least bring that funny/ugly or as I say ‘fugly’ sweater that people will always remember you wore to make them laugh. If you don't have one, then find the people, places and things that make you feel great this time of year and talk about that! These will make you feel good and even be remembered as I’m sure you will be.
Happy holidays, make it different and make it count!
